What about those of us with windows 7 x64 pro

Post by Icedragonslair »

What about those of us (I have donated in the past via paypal) with windows 7 x64 pro. my pro does not expire until 2020 and I prefer it greatly to window 10 which is still garbage (when it grows up it might be better...hahaha!)

Any help would be appreciated, I do not mind donating again, but i certainly would like the support (i never needed it until now)

The venerable FileBot 4.7.9 still works well as far as I know. Did it stop working?

4.7.9 still works, just wondering about the newer releases. I am really interested in some of the newer features listed

I used to provide legacy packages as a last resort (for loyal long-term FileBot users only) to some users I particularly like, but I currently can't, because that latest release is JDK 9 based, and JDK 9 is not supported yet by Launch4J, which means I can't build working MSI packages until that's fixed:

That's cool, years in the Corps taught me plenty of patience :)

Thanks for the info and response,

What features are you interested in? (Note: HiDPI probably support won't work on Windows 7)

mainly the updated/improved movie auto detect and the C o W is real interesting, but I can afford to wait, I have a few projects in the works before I look into any OS upgrades on my other systems...:)

Windows (NTFS) doesn't support CoW clones, so this feature is only useful for Linux (BTRFS) and Mac (APFS) users.

On Linux, if you have OpenJDK 9 and if you just need to use the command-line tools, then you don't need to worry about being left behind. ;)

:!: Windows 7 users will eventually be left behind though, and if Launch4J never gets updated to support Java 9, then neither will FileBot for Windows 7. (Note: My bug report on Launch4J has been ignored since 2016 so that project might be dead already)
