hi, i am trying to rename my files within the films folder which is hosted on my Qnap. I have Filebot installed on my windows10 machine.

i added my \\qnap\public\films to filebot and hit the "Fetch Data" button, i spent a while ensuring the right films matched the right year.

Filebot shows Orginal Files with the old names and New Names on the right, with the correct names.

I press the Rename button and i'm presented with a dialog box "illegal characters", so i press Validate (to remove the characters) and then Continue.

I'm presented with another dialog box "Conflicting Files". There are 11 "duplicate destination path" lines, the "Override" button is grayed out, so i press Continue.

A network dialog box like it's doing something but this only lasts a second and then i'm back to the main FileBot window.

None of the files have changed names. I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong.

Not sure. Try a few things with individual files and see what works and what doesn't. Most likely a network share permission issue, i.e. your client has read permissions but not write permissions for the given share.

Using a different way to access files, such as using a mapped network drive instead of UNC paths, could be a solution. Running FileBot directly on the QNAP NAS via FileBot Node is worth consideration as well.

I mapped a network drive and that worked. thanks very much.
