How to update expired license?

My initial 1 year license appears to have expired (about when expected, but without any warning) overnight. Either that, or dark mode support is suddenly broken. I purchased a lifetime license to use (now that I know just how useful and capable FileBot is!) but there does not appear to be any way to actually ENTER or ATTACH the new license. The instructions from my "Thanks for purchasing" message don't apply, neither do the things listed on the FAQ (at viewtopic.php?t=6121). I'm on Windows 10 Pro, using the downloaded .msi to install. When I click on "Rename" there is no option to enter a key, I just get a popup telling me there are no files to rename.

So...

If my license has NOT expired yet, why is Dark Mode no longer working? If my license HAS expired, why does everything else seem to still be working fine (I used FileBot to rename two TV show files this morning after FileBot stopped using Dark Mode.) Or am I in some sort of transitional phase where the license is, for want of a better term, in the process of "expiring"??

Why doesn't this program just have something SIMPLE in its settings to enter/update a license? Double-secret, hidden license setting controls are NOT helpful -- the exact opposite of just about everything else in FileBot!

Dark Mode and License Activation are completely unrelated. Your license (or lack thereof) does not enable or disable Dark Mode. Dark Mode is enabled by default if you have chosen "Dark" as default app mode in your Windows settings. What color settings are you using?

If FileBot doesn't ask about selecting a new license when you rename files, then your current license is good to go. However, you can always install a new license (even if the old one is still good) by double-clicking on your *.psm license file that you want to install instead.

You can activate your license by double-clicking on the license file or right-clicking the license file and opening it with FileBot.

Thanks for the info about double-clicking the license file, I somehow missed the combination of filename and instructions between the emails and the FAQ. Sorry, my bad, when there were so many methods that either didn't apply or exist, I guess my confusion got the better of me.

The Dark Mode thing is stranger. When I went to bed Sunday night, Windows and apps were all using Dark Mode. When I opened FileBot in the morning, it was NOT using Dark Mode, so I thought that may have been a licensed feature (I have several programs that don't support Dark Mode in free versions, so that seemed likely.) However, after reading your message, I checked and somehow, something turned off the Dark Mode for APPs while I was asleep. That's disturbing, so I have a full, deep scan of my machine running as I type. Hopefully it was just Microsoft messing with me like it does when it randomly deletes a network card from my system during an update.

Anyway, thank you for your patient and helpful answer! My new, lifetime license is installed and Dark Mode is back.
