Reverted files - deleted

Hi

Apologies for my ultimate noobiness.

I ran the Filebot to rename a series, and then reverted as I wanted to change a preference, however when I tried to revert, my files can no longer be found.

I'm not sure what happened, and if I can recover these files, which I hope I can, because the torrents I got them from are no longer active.

I renamed the files, using existing folder, not moving anything.

Please help!

Thanks

TitanX

If the original path is exactly the same as the new path (i.e. nothing was renamed) and this "rename" was performed with an older version of FileBot (i.e. no-op added to the rename log) and this "rename" is then reverted using a newer version of FileBot, then it's possible that files are deleted.

This bug has been fixed with the latest revision (not latest stable release).

Hi Rednoah

Thanks for your reply.

The version was the same. I've literally only found out about your software during this weekend.

Ahhhh nevertheless thanks for your help, i'll have to hunt down someone who took a copy off me.

Thanks again

Noobiness forgiven...

Did you delete the original folder after renaming the files?
The normal 'revert' function will move the files back to their original name AND location.
If you use the 'change directory' function, then make sure you're looking for the right (new) one.

Do a Windows search for the files - by name or extension, or whatever - to see if they're now just hiding...
Easier to confirm that they're not actually there, before you start looking for backup copies.

Do you have any UNDELETE utilities?
The files are likely still 'there' - When Windows deletes a file, it (usually) just removes the filename from the disk index, without touching the files themselves. Until Windows re-uses that hard drive space again, the files can be undeleted.
But if Windows has re-used any part of that drive space, then you're out of luck.
