OpenSubtitles Login Not Working

Post by FilebotUser12345 »

This is a clean install of the Windows 10 Store app - never used another version before.

I get this error on the command line: "OpenSubtitles: A network error occurred."

And this is a screenshot: Image

System info:

Code: Select all

I've tried a reinstall and also running as admin, just on the off chance. No change.

By searching for "New Girl" when not logged in (since I can't), I was also able to generate this error:

Looks like a generic network error. Maybe OpenSubtitles is having issue or is just down for a while. Please try again 1-2 days later. The problem will most likely resolve itself.

This might indicate a more serious issue, with SSL just not working for some reason:

Code: Select all

javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
However, I'm fairly sure these kinds of things have been reported before, and tend to resolve itself. Maybe there's server-side SSL configuration issues.

Couple of weeks later and I'm still having the same issue. Is there any more data I can gather to help pin down the issue?

Is it possible to try with a new clean Windows install? (e.g. on a second computer)

Okay I downloaded Microsoft's Windows 10 Dev Evaluation VM and it works in there, but weirdly it's running an older version.

I've tried an uninstall and reinstall from the store on my main (host) and I'm still getting the newer version (which doesn't work).

Host, doesn't work:

Code: Select all

filebot -script fn:sysinfo
FileBot 4.7.21 (r5319)
JNA Native: 5.2.0
MediaInfo: 0.7.99
7-Zip-JBinding: 9.20
Chromaprint: 1.4.2
Extended Attributes: OK
Unicode Filesystem: OK
Script Bundle: 2018-03-16 (r516)
Groovy: 2.4.13
JRE: Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 9.0.4
JVM: 64-bit Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM
CPU/MEM: 4 Core / 1 GB Max Memory / 44 MB Used Memory
OS: Windows 10 (amd64)
Package: APPX
Done ?(?????)?
VM guest which does:

Code: Select all

filebot -script fn:sysinfo
FileBot 4.7.18 (r5271)
JNA Native: 5.2.0
MediaInfo: 0.7.99
7-Zip-JBinding: 9.20
Chromaprint: 1.4.2
Extended Attributes: OK
Unicode Filesystem: OK
Script Bundle: 2018-03-16 (r516)
Groovy: 2.4.13
JRE: Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 1.8.0_162
JVM: 64-bit Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM
CPU/MEM: 3 Core / 910 MB Max Memory / 40 MB Used Memory
OS: Windows 10 (amd64)
Package: APPX

-------------------- UPDATE AVAILABLE: FileBot 4.8 (r5280) ---------------------

Done ?(?????)?
Any thoughts? I can't reinstall my main rn, but maybe in a few months.

I'm not surprised that it works in a on a clean Windows machine. There's probably some strange anti-virus, firewall, etc messing with things on your primary Windows machine.

The reason you're getting an older version is probably because the VM is not running the latest version of Windows. If you're using 32-bit or a Windows build older than 10.0.16299.248 you might not be getting an older version for compatibility reasons.
