ALL of my SRT files on my computer were changed!!!

Post by Donnazor »

This was NOT what I wanted. I downloaded this program and tried it on a few files. But ALL of my movie subtitles were changed from SRT to "media files". ALL of them, on all drives, and they do not work the way I want them to. Can this be reversed? I am very upset.
I HATE programs that make changes I do not CHOOSE!!!

FileBot does not modify files. I think you are talking about Windows File Association:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_association

If SRT files aren't associated with anything, then Windows may default to FileBot once it is installed.

You can change the file association by right-clicking the file and selecting Open With... Presumably, you'll want to open SRT files with your favorite text editor.

However, SRT files are automatically used by your video player when playing a video file in the same folder, so the file association has no effect on how subtitles work in videos.
