DISNEY SHORTS\1928 - Oswald - Bright Lights

Post by blackmantis1 »

So the tutorials are pretty easy to follow... I install the file FileBot_4.8.2_x64 from repository and activates license by clicking on it. I drag in drop a handful of movies I need renamed from Year - Name to Name (year) moved into folder also named Name (year). Click on the fetch data button & choose themoviedb under Movie Mode and nothing happens it just sits there. I choose autodetect and something spins then nothing. No matches, no errors, nothing.

1.
Please provide some of the sample paths for testing. Hit F7 (when the UI looks like in the screenshot above) to copy the file paths into the clipboard so you can post them here in the forums or on pastebin.

2.
Please check your files and see if there's a correct match on TheMovieDB in the first place. Based on the screenshots, at the very least it doesn't look like a typical movie collection. Try with a simple file, e.g. "Avatar.2009.avi", and then process that with TheMovieDB. It'll either work, or it'll fail, or there'll be a activity indicator, but either way there'll be some visual feedback always.

3.
The UI seems broken. What UI Scale Factor are you using in Windows?

Code: Select all

ELEMENTS01\DISNEY SHORTS\1928 - Oswald - Bright Lights.avi	null
ELEMENTS01\DISNEY SHORTS\1928 - Oswald - Oh What a Knight.avi	null
ELEMENTS01\DISNEY SHORTS\1928 - Oswald - Ozzie of the Mounted.avi	null
ELEMENTS01\DISNEY SHORTS\1928 - Oswald - Rival Romeos.avi	null
ELEMENTS01\DISNEY SHORTS\1928 - Oswald - Sky Scrappers.avi	null
ELEMENTS01\DISNEY SHORTS\1926 - Alice in the Wooly West.avi	null
ELEMENTS01\DISNEY SHORTS\1926 - Alice's Balloon Race.avi	null
ELEMENTS01\DISNEY SHORTS\1927 - Oswald - All Wet.avi	null
ELEMENTS01\DISNEY SHORTS\1927 - Oswald - Great Guns!.avi	null
ELEMENTS01\DISNEY SHORTS\1927 - Oswald - Oh Teacher.avi	null
Yeah i've renamed "bright lights" exactly the way it's named in themoviedb and nothing happens, I also tried it name.year, name (year), name. Plex finds all 500 of the short films with description and art. Im scaled up to 230% on my 60inch 4k screen but that screenshot was from a RDP session.

I see. All files are completely ignored because of the keyword "SHORTS" in the file path. If you rename the "DISNEY SHORTS" folder to lets say "TEST" then it might work. However, badly named pre-1970 movies will work significantly less well than post-1970 ones because of FileBot internal databases.

The easiest solution to avoid both problems is to pre-rename files into a nicer more easy to auto-detect format:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2072

A generic file format such as this will do the job:

Code: Select all

X:/TMP/Movies/{fn.split('-').last()} - {fn.split('-').first()}
 After applying this format to rewrite the file paths, you should be able to process the files as usual.

PS: I'd stick to even scale factors such as 1x / 2x / 4x because anything designed for 1x (i.e. everything) will scale better.

just "Oswald" is another show the "correct" title is "Oswald the Lucky Rabbit"

Oh. I thought Oswald was the director or something. There seem to be marching entries on TheMovieDB though.

I guess it's up to you guys to decide if series or movie mode matches best for you.

Thanks, that worked! I renamed the disney shorts folder to disneyshorts and the application came alive. I applied your rename code and it renamed most except for about 75 movies so I renamed them by hand since i dont know the code. Once it renamed them it had no problem finding the files renaming and moving into folders. This folder was shared to me and I didnt want to rename all the files by hand that program help save a bunch of time.

I'm not sure how best to organize this particular set of files.

It seems that TheTVDB has a series entry with corresponding episode entries that might just match your files:
