I did follow those steps and it keeps asking me to purchase. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong but I am new to the linux scene. I am currently running linuxmint. Any help will be appreciated.

Please take a screenshot so we can see what's going on and where you're stuck.
The way it usually works:
1. Install FileBot (doesn't require a license)
2. Launch FileBot (doesn't require a license)
3. Do your thing and click Rename (FileBot will ask for a license as this point, which you can select from your filesystem wherever you've saved the license file attachment, i.e. the *.psm file from the second email)
