Copying/Moving to QNap is very slow

Post by razi »

I'm using FileBot to copy movies and shows to my QNap via Network, the copying is very slow, is there any recommendation or setting I can to do?

Not really. FileBot just asks the OS to move /A to /B and then the OS decides how to do that and performs the operation. So we wouldn't expect FileBot to copy files slower or faster than any other program.

 A general Google search on how to make network shares faster between macOS and QNAP might be interesting though.

EDIT:

Depending on your use case, you might be able to run FileBot on your NAS device. That will greatly speed up any kind of IO operation. You'll also be able to use use hardlinks or reflinks instead of physically copying files.

thanks for the reply.

I will look into running FileBot on QNap... but this means that I need to transfer the file there before executing FileBot.

but I'll google more about connection speed between Mac and QNap
