The Launchpad method might remove the preferences (same as iOS apps - might because I haven't tested it with FileBot but it did with other Apps.)

The 'Move to Trash' definitely does not.

Quick Update: FileBot r7580 should work on older OS X 10.10 and 10.11 machines again. FileBot 4.9.2 will be released around mid-June, probably.

If you're using the MAS, please keep a backup of your current installation, and update immediately when the new version comes out, and check it it works, and tell us if it doesn't, because we don't have OS X 10.10 and 10.11 machines for testing ourselves.

MAS rollout can be cancelled, but only within 7 days, so if the next release still has the same issue, it'd be good if somebody told us that it's not working on older devices within those 7 days. ;)

FileBot 4.9.2 has been released on the Mac App Store with macOS 11 Big Sur forwards-compatibility and OS X 10.11 El Capitan backwards-compatibility. OS X 10.10 Yosemite is no longer supported, but the MAS should give you an older version for that one.


:!: Please update (after making a backup) and confirm whether or not the latest FileBot 4.9.2 is now indeed working on your OS X 10.11 El Capitan machine. Please do so within 7 days, since we won't be able to stop or revert the rollout after that time has passed.
