On May 05, 2016, I bought FileBot via MAS. From the outset ran the software correctly (on my MacBookPro mid-2010, latest System 10.12.4).
On my Mac Pro, early 2008, latest System 10.10.5, the software never worked. Up to version 4.7.8 i could start Filebot via "FileBot/Contents/Java/*.jar" (* = various Names, depending on the version). For simple use i created a Automator App for start via click.
Since 4.7.9 this startable jar file doesn't exist. So i can't update.

Maybe you have a idea for a other workaround or you can fix the problem under Yosemite.

1.
Do you have a crash report or any logs?

Open Console.app and see if it says anything about FileBot when FileBot launches and crashes:

Code: Select all

open /Applications/Utilities/Console.app

2.
I wouldn't recommend running the jar directly without launch configuration. But if MAS is really borked on your machine, then you can use brew cask instead and then just run filebot without arguments to launch the GUI:

If you want to upload large text files, then I'd recommend using pastebin.

Sharing via Google drive, Dropbox and friends will work just fine as well of course.

This seems to be an issue with your specific machine or hardware configuration. Have you tried a different machine? Do you have a special graphics configuration? You graphics driver seems to crash and take the app with it:

Code: Select all

/System/Library/Extensions/GeForceGLDriverWeb.bundle/Contents/MacOS/GeForceGLDriverWeb

Apple doesn't fix bugs in older versions of Mac OS, so you may have to upgrade to the latest version of Mac OS or factory reset your machine:

Code: Select all

OS Version: Mac OS X 10.10.5 (14F2411)
