FileBot incorrectly matching filename to show name

Post by bchuter »

Hi there

ive been using FileBot for quite some time now, its really fantastic.

However i have a strange one, if i place a file called "The Grand Tour [s02e0x]" in FileBot, it will pick this up as "The Big Bang Theory" ?
I have completely shut the program and re-opened but it will still decode The Grand Tour as The Big Bang Theory ?

I think i might of accidentally done 1 rename with the incorrect match before, but it will now always see 'The Grand Tour' as 'The Big Bang Theory'
i have looked and can see there are 2 entries in the 'History' but i cannot delete any history entries ? unless im doing something stupid.
i can only export and import, but not delete any of the history entries
Im a little newish to mac (i come form MS and "theRenamer" enviroment)
Any assistance would be appreciated

Brad

Ok so i did a google search on deleting history.

It referred me to this forum to a very old post from 2013 where rednoah suggested to delete the 'history.xml' file in applications folder
however i could not find this. After using 'NimbleCommander' to do a system wide search for this file, I found it in :

/Users/bchuter/Library/Containers/net.filebot.FileBot/Data/Library/Application Support/User Data/history.xml

I copied this out to a temp location and ran up FileBot, it did remove all the rename history, however FileBot still matches 'The Grand Tour' as The Big Bang Theory' .......grrrrr

back to square one

Success!!

I went to the 'Episodes' section. Found the 'The Grand Tour' series, then went back to the rename window, added my file (which was again found incorrectly when using thetvdb) then went back to Episodes tab and said 'send to rename tab' then was able to override the name with the correct name. After doing this, if i add this series again to FileBot, it now seems to correctly find the series names.

There is NO season 2 of "The Grand Tour"
https://www.thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=311932&lid=7

BUT if you rename your files to "The Grand Tour (2016)" (e.g. "The.Grand.Tour.2016.S02E03") there is and it will find it ;)
https://www.thetvdb.com/?tab=season&ser ... 7725&lid=7

btw: if you use themoviedb there is no need to rename ;)

Thanks so much for the reply.

I actually did try TheTVDB and themoviedb, but it was as if it was not even querying the internet (unless it was just that fast)
it would instantly suggest a rename from 'TheGrandTour' to 'TheBigBangTheory' which seemed like FileBot was looking at a local cache.

But as explained above, i did get it working after forcing it from the episode list area. After this is actually renames the files correctly
with the (2016) as you have stated.

Much appreciated for your feedback though ;)

That's right. The kind of obviously wrong matches are usually caused by there not being a correct match to begin with.

In this case, you can probably get away with pressing SHIFT when clicking on TheTVDB so FileBot will ask you to enter and select the correct series name.

In the worst case, manual matching will do the trick:
