Don't get correct episode for disk part

Post by Ander »

Hi,

don't know, if or what i'm missing...... but I don't get the correct name for an episode.
(I'm testing the software and basically close to buying...... looks awesome, but I need help:)

My system: OSX 10.10.5

I drag'n'drop an mkv file, HARD_SUN_S1_D2.Title4.mkv
(It's Hard Sun, Season 1, Disk 2, Episode 5)

After fetching data via thetvdb, I get S1E02 - it's wrong.

Second test: I duplicated the mkv file, drag'n'drop, Test.mkv

Result is: S1E03 - it's wrong too.

Couldn't find any help in the FAQ, Thx for inputs....

As my screenshots, PNG files don't show up correct, I insert the dropbox link.

FileBot generally does not support disk parts, since disk parts don't really correspond to episode files (maybe it contains half of episode 1 and half of episode 2 and so on). Automatic matching has no chance of working in this case.

 As a general rule of thumb, if a human can't make sense of it by looking at the filename, then FileBot probably can't either.

If each of your disk part files does correspond to a specific episode, then you can align them manually:

(I was thinking FileBot kind of get's the correct names via checking episode length)

Yes, shown in the video above, you'll need to manually align files and episodes, if you're dealing with files where automatic matching doesn't work.

As far as automatic matching is concerned, "Test 5" doesn't mean anything, and so FileBot picks "Episode 5" as the most likely match, because 5 and 5. FileBot does not "look" at the video to identify the video. It primarily relies on the file name.

Files / Episodes are not matched by length, as TheTVDB contains only generic information, and not any kind of DVD release specific information. Though video length is used as heuristic in other aspects, such as separating movies / trailers / etc.
