Documentary series rename <episode name> ---> <series> SxE

Post by schott1984 »

I have over 100 episodes of this one series and all the files are names with only the episode name .mkv. I would like to rename them all to <series> <sxe>.mkv

How can I use AMC and filebot to use this data to rename based on theTVDB.com information? They are on thetvdb.com and I tested PMS picking up the info correctly with the SxxExx format, I just am not sure how to get filebot or AMC to do this.

Can it be done?

Thanks!

Maybe, you'll definitely have to force TV mode though, otherwise there's a good chance some files will be processed as movies.

That being said, use the GUI. This is definitely the kind of stuff where you want to make sure that things match up correctly before you hit Rename.

try the GUI under "episodes"
search for show
select the episodes
drag&drop to "rename" / "new names"
then drag&drop your files on "original files"
if format ok then rename... done

If episodes are not numbered, then they're most likely also not ordered, so this won't work. The usual "drop files, select TheTVDB" will work best here, because FileBot will be able to match episodes by their episode title if numbers are absent.

Thanks, everyone! Almost there...

Each .mkv file ONLY has the episode name, so it's not matching series for each one.

Is there a way to assign a generic series or first prepend all file names with the series name then rename in SxE format?

1.
If it can't figure out the series name, then it'll ask you. You can force that behaviour by holding SHIFT while clicking TheTVDB.

2.
Possible, but not necessary in this case:

Thanks. I'll try this later this evening.

Yeah this is working. Apparently theTVdb doesn't have data for a LOT of these. Not sure what to do to get them on PMS... guess I'll figure that out next.
