iTunes library renames Filebot named files...

Post by alaskaben »

Hello,

I have just purchased FB and it works well. HOWEVER, when I play the file Apple TV (the app) renames it to its former name... I have tried to rename the files before importing them in the iTunes library but it still renames them.

Has it ever happened to anyone?

Update: I forgot to mention that for some files it keeps the FB given name BUT in iTunes, it still apears with the former name? I'm baffled.

FileBot renames files. FileBot does not tag files or modify files in any way.

:?: By "rename" you mean "display name in iTunes", right? iTunes isn't actually renaming files, right?

 I'm not the author or maintainer of iTunes, but I suspect that iTunes primary uses MP4 tags whenever possible, and doesn't look at the file name unless MP4 tags are missing.

I renamed files using filebot.

I import the file in the iTunes library.

When I look at the file in the Finder, the iTunes library, lo and behold, it has its former name.

Is there a "save" that I forget to perform?

The file HAVE to be mp4 or m4v.

Sounds like iTunes does it's own moving & renaming when you import files into iTunes. You'd have to ask an iTunes expert (i.e. Google) to see if there's a way to turn that off.
