I'll just add those 2 then:

Is there a particular reason you aren't adding these groups? If they overlap with any other data, just set all release group name searches to look for the name in square brackets (which they are always in anyway).

By taking the easy route of not adding them, you are also actively working to make filebot useless for anime (automation you can't rely on is worse than manually doing it), and, having already paid for it, that is a crappy thing to do.

Also, RE:

Are you even trying to confirm your information before messing up something for a lot of people?

neko-kBaraka is not a subgroup of kBaraka, it is a collaboration-group between neko-raws and kBaraka. By not adding it, none of the releases they put out together are recognized by FileBot as having a group in the file-name, again, actively making it more necessary to manually go over FileBot's output and manually correct it. And for what reason in this case, exactly, other than you seeming to enjoy putting all-caps "no"s on things?

Is this the reason more than half of all anime release groups in my library aren't in the list, despite them all being easily available through 5 minutes of cut-and-paste? Because if so, for f***s sake, just let users add a manual expansion file for the group list - that way we can give up on hoping various groups make it on FileBot's internal list, and just pull AniDB's full group list periodically instead.

It's not like most anime collectors are going to have much media by whatever that youtube link was to, and you didn't even add a reason for not adding Drake - there can't be that many dragon-centered movies with the term in the name.

And, like I said, release-groups all, by convention, all put their names in square brackets as part of the filename - either apply square brackets to all groupname-strings for group-searches in general, or just have group-names containing potentially conflicting terms use square brackets for their search-string.

But don't just discard release-group names for no real reason - FileBot is only as good as the data it has, and actively discarding data rather than finding a proper solution just cripples its functionality. I've had to manually rename files almost every day for the last week because FileBot left out the release group, and the only reason I didn't have to do the same the week before was because a new season just started, and I had written manual scripts to account for all the release-group names missing from FileBot for last season's series.

Knowing that was likely only necessary because someone was actively working to not have FileBot recognize them just makes me feel like an idiot for paying money for it - even free options don't actively sabotage their usefulness.

1.
{group} is being used by a large number of paying users. Therefore the requests of a single paying user must be weighted, especially if another paying user has objections.

2.
You can make your own group list, and you can completely replace the {group} binding with your own arbitrary Groovy code that does exactly what you want, whatever that may be:
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10681

As such, you can just not rely on known group names at all, and instead rely on existing naming standards:
rednoah wrote: 16 Nov 2011, 14:41 If your files already follow scene naming standards (e.g. "avatar-group.avi") you can try this expression which doesn't rely on a list of known release group names and just matches text patterns:

Code: Select all

{fn.match(/(?<=[-])\w+$/)}
:idea: You can use the same approach to just match anything in [...] if this happens to be the case for all your files.

3.
Your assumption may hold for your Anime collection, but likely won't hold for the vast majority of FileBot users who have a mind-boggling variety of badly named Anime and TV Shows.

{group} is the easy solution that mostly works for most people, and sometimes doesn't work, but at least you won't get false positives either, and doesn't make assumptions about files already being named nicely one way or another.

Simply matching the last [...] in the filename can easily achieved without the {group} binding, and may be a preferable solution for your particular use case:

Code: Select all

{fn.matchAll(/\[.+?\]/).last()}
:idea: Please read the FAQ and How to Request Help.
