Hi,

There's a lot of duplicates listed in the renamer, but there's no indication of which file is which, i.e. there's no extensions listed, neither on the left nor on the right.

Each file type of the small files in the folder, avi, nfo, par2, sfv, srr, are all listed, but I can't tell if it's because I have a duplicate movie in my folders, or if it's because of the additional small info files.

It looks like I have lots of duplicates of the same file.

p.s. what happens when two different files match to the same movie by the way?

The file extension is shown in a yellow box on the right hand-side. You may need to maximize the window if the scrollable area is large due to one or more lengthy items, though the file extension typically isn't of importance when confirming matches.

You can double-click a File item on the left hand-side to reveal this particular file in the File Explorer.

If you have 2 or more source files that match the same movie, then it's either a multi-part movie, or you have the same movie twice.

Either way, your format will decide the destination path, and if 2 or more source files target the same destination path, then FileBot will complain about destination path conflicts when you hit Rename.

On the other hand, if your format yields a unique destination path (e.g. by using {pi} and {resolution} in your format) for each unique source path, then no conflict no problem.

I wouldn't worry about it. If you use a simple format such as {plex.name} then each unique movie will get a unique file path, and if you have the same movie twice, both movies will target the same destination path, and FileBot will alert you when you hit Rename.

TL;DR Don't worry about duplicates prematurely. They will resolve themselves.


Since you're using {resolution} in your format, you'll be able to have movie duplicates, since each duplicate probably has a different resolution. Not to worry. Just process them as usual, and once things are nicely organized and tagged, then the duplicates script can easily pick out the duplicates anytime later on.
