Hey Rednoah,

I've been using FileBot now for a while to sort my media collection (As you do i suppose, wtf else would I be using it for...) and I've recently married a Chinese woman. I looked into the Subtitles feature of Filebot for the first time and Noticed it can batch download subtitles from a few different sites, very cool feature. Except that none of the currently supported sites list any Chinese subs.

The only site that I have found that list Chinese subs is shooter.cn, I can get subs from there via XBMC's default subtitles plugin, however it will only get one episode at a time.

Would you be able to look at adding support for this in the near future? I don't know if XBMC does it through APi or scrapping though it works quite well.

恭喜恭喜！ Looked at that a year ago. They don't have a public documented API (maybe I'm wrong but they definitely make it hard to scrape the page). They do have some subtitle-by-hash thing going on with their own player but is it really working that well? Sure isn't that perfect for OpenSubtitles because of the very limited number of people uploading subs with hash.

Anyway, I'll have a look, but unless it's very easy to develop and maintain I won't much bother. I live in 北京 so it'd be a cool feature, but it's really not worth doing for just me and a handful of expats.

EDIT: Didn't find any docs or the source code of other working implementations.

If I find anything I'll post here, otherwise we'll leave it in the too hard basket, thanks for checking it out though.

In the mean time I'll keep using Funshion and hope they keep uploading american movies in hd for us.

Attached is the xbmc addon that works for this site, it's written in python, which I don't know anything about. Maybe it will help, maybe it won't.

PS I visited Beijing briefly, I spent spring Festival 2009 there actually. But I lived in a city in Chongqing (重庆万州区) which is were I met my wife. We are currently living in Australia as my work is based here.

Had a look this morning to figure out how splayer and that python script work. Can be done, but it's lots of extra work since that API is not exactly user friendly. Maybe if there is more people or incentive for that feature I'll consider working on it.

came across this thread. sounds like a awesome idea to have shooter integrated. the shooter.cn site is down, but API is still alive.

would like to pay $100 or even $200 for such a feature.

I've looked into shooter.cn once in a while over the years since it's by far the best site for Chinese subtitles. But I have never found an API, especially nothing like a API documentation, or example code.

As far as I know, SPlayer is the only software that can access shooter.cn and I guess that's by design...

So it looks like the API for looking up subtitles by hash works, at least for now. But does shooter.cn have any future? Are there still new subtitles being uploaded?

the site is indeed dead, for a while now. but the API, both upload and download, is still alive, still seeing new subtitles even for episodes aired for less then 48 hours.
and yes it looks like it looks up subtitles via hash (or at least similar) for perfect sync.
and also looks like the API will live at least for a while

in case you need, the kodi (XBMC) also has a working shooter subtitle addon from build-in repo.

also in case you may find it useful, someone has created a sscl file to automatically download from shooter, and a how-to to set it up as a folder-action for mac. just have it tested, works perfectly. maybe you can have it integrated into filebot?

so what I'm doing is, since i use sabnzbd, i have it set to run a script after download finishes. and in this script, i have filebot runs first, then runs the script i copied from the first link above. but the problem is, the second script seems to search all subtitles everytime it runs. so, an integration with filebot (probably other sub services would also be a huge plus) would be awesome

You can play with r3183 and see if it works for you. It somewhat works, but I guess it'll only really work well if you're in China and have video file from Chinese sources.

thanks for the build, though on a mac, i completely have no idea how to install it. (i use brew cask to do the installation all the time)

If you fetch Chinese subtitles then 射手網 hash-lookup will be used in case OpenSubtitles hash-lookup doesn't yield any results. Same for CLI (i.e. -get-subtitles) and GUI (i.e. the === drop target).

FileBot will never use Shooter for English subtitles.

Just set it to Chinese and you'll see it try Shooter if OpenSubtitles hash-lookup doesn't yield any results:

i've put some Homeland season 4 files in ~/Desktop/1/, which are proven to have subtitles downloaded via the other shooter script (though i manually deleted them for test purpose)

Are you sure you're using the latest revision? Maybe try with -non-strict flag? I don't know. Your command should work. I'll look into it.

yeah i saw your new .jar files, but there are two of them, should i get the shooter one or they are the same

i just ssh'ed into my computer and tried script fn:suball since i saw you talking this in another thread.
so, the code 'sort' of worked. just still have two problems,
first one is, though i have specified --lang chinese, it's still looking on open subtitles, and open subtitles returns a failure every time
the second one is, it's 'randomly' (I'm trying to run the same code for a couple more times to see if it's really random) excluding some files. at first i thought it was because those files have subs already, but just verified via plex (i don't have gui access to computer yet.) some of them, at least one hunger games movie does not have any subtitle files in the folder.

the second run is definitely shorter, so it's excluding more folders?
maybe it's related to contents of the folder?
i will try to clear the folder contents and give it another try when i get home.

ok, i just realized that i have parallels access on the computer.
so here's what i did.
i created a hazel rule to remove all subtitles files (srt, ass, ssa, sub) under /movies/ directory
manually opened 10 folders, indeed there are just .mkv files and posters...etc, no subtitle files
ran the exact code again

so, it's still excluding some folders for no reason. at least for the first one, 12 years slave, i can confirm that there is no sub-related files in the folder.
and also (maybe I'm running script too frequently? will try later today or tomorrow morning see if it changes) it starts to fail downloading subs from shooter. (but the good sign is, i believe, the script found one match, but just failed to download it?)

Files may be included or excluded based on file creation date, last modified date, file size, video length, embedded subtitles, etc

People usually forget about the embedded subtitles part. If the *.mkv files contains embedded subtitles of ANY language then no subtitles will be downloaded. This behaviour can be adjusted via --def ignoreTextLanguage option. There's a related thread on `ignoreTextLanguage` here somewhere.

though there are still some 'failures' using shooter, but most of them worked. i believe this maybe server glitch or just because i ran the script too many times on a single ip today.

just for anyone who also wants this, I'm using the r3183 jar (just replace the original filebot_4.6.jar), and my code is

somehow after i did an extensive test, i realized that this seems to only work with movies, for tv shows, somehow it just can't find one single subtitle for like more than 200 episodes.... and among them (like the homeland), i've used the other shooter script and successfully downloaded subs before.... don't know what's going on

plus, instantly, filebot says can't find a match. none like the movies, filebot actually takes a little while to fetch or 'not found'

and for those '12 monkeys' being ignored, i can confirm that they don't have embedded subs, since plex showing 'none' subtitles.

another problem, when i try to put --lang chinese in my mac script to try to embed shooter into amc, filebot uses chinese tv show names instead of english... any to force english names?

1.
--def "ignoreTextLanguage=zh,en" effectively disables ignoreTextLanguage. You're supposed to pass in a regular expression, so --def "ignoreTextLanguage=zh|en" (though I'm not sure what exact language tags you may get back from mediainfo for specific files).

2.
There is many reasons why a file may be excluded. If you think that ignoreTextLanguage is the issue, then please use MediaInfo to check, since FileBot sees what MediaInfo sees.

You can use Fiddler to capture and debug HTTPS requests. This way you can compare the requests and responses FileBot sends and receives with those of others tools.

(when testing, please mind that filebot caches things heavily, and won't allow you to send the same request to shooter more than once per 2 days, unless you clear the cache manually each time)

4.
You're setting --lang for all of FileBot, including data lookup and renaming. What you want is the amc-specific option --def subtitles=zho as shown in the examples.
