OK - so i tried using Google DNS
(following these instructions:https://developers.google.com/speed/pub ... docs/using).
Tested connection in browser, and from bookmark, as requested in the manual.

But still same block when connecting through FileBotSubtitles ("network error occur")

mind you, Opensubtitles.org is, and was not prohibited from my browser, so it only the API that your software connects to that is banned.
Maybe because it is affiliated with other banned sites?

1.
Please run this command again and post the output so we can confirm which IP you're connecting to:

Code: Select all

curl -v 'http://api.opensubtitles.org/xml-rpc' -d '<methodCall><methodName>ServerInfo</methodName><params></params></methodCall>'

2.
api.opensubtitles.org is a subdomain of opensubtitles.org so it's no more or less affiliated with opensubtitles.org than www.opensubtitles.org.

There might be technical reasons, such as CloudFlare caching, that might make it more tricky to block one server than another. For example, if they'd block opensubtitles.org by IP, then they'd be blocking a CloudFlare edge cache, which means they'd be blocking a good chunk of other websites that happen to be served by the same edge cache.

The only solution, as afore mentioned, is most likely a VPN (that tunnels all TCP connections and DNS queries).

or... use subtitlesapp https://subtitlesapp.com
I just installed it and it works like a charm !

By the way - cudos to FileBot Rename ! - When I realised it can rename a whole folder with 100'eds of moviefolders (moviefile + subs) all in one go , my heart just leaped - such a relief ! I have a sooo many movies....

So with Subtitles just filling in the blanks (just drag and drop the moviefile and it finds the best subtitle on its own, rename it, and placing it in the same folder as the movie, all in one go)
