Filebot renamed file to wrong season/episode?

Post by Al3x »

It renamed episodes 2, 3, and 4 of Season 6 of Modern Family to Season 1 episodes? Modern.Family.S06E02.HDTV.x264-KILLERS.mp4 became Modern Family - S01E02 - The Bicycle Thief.mp4 for example.

Here's the log output:

Works fine:

Code: Select all

Group: [tvs:modern family] => [Modern.Family.S06E02.HDTV.x264-KILLERS.mp4]
Rename episodes using [TheTVDB]
Auto-detected query: [Modern Family]
Fetching episode data for [Modern Family]
[COPY] Rename [/Users/reinhard/Test/AMC-TEST/Modern.Family.S06E02.HDTV.x264-KILLERS.mp4] to [/Users/reinhard/Test/TV Shows/Modern Family/Season 06/Modern Family - S06E02 - Do Not Push.mp4]
The reason it didn't work at the time was most likely that Episode 6x02 did not exist at the time. Make sure episode data is added to TheTVDB well in advance (lets say 3 days) and you will never have issues such as this.

PS: guesses like this are enabled with -non-strict but if you disable that option you might not be happy neither

I have found with very new episodes that issue can happen, but you can see from the log date it was yesterday at 9pm. They're on episode 4 now and episode 2 failed?

I opened FileBot GUI to undo the change, then noticed there was an update, downloaded the newer version of FileBot and updated my JRE to the one needed, then re-ran the exact command and it worked an hour later? I can't imagine TheTVDB added Ep 2, 3, and 4 in the hour I did it.

New version resets all cached data, so it'll have to fetch the latest. Otherwise the cache is only updated every 2 days.

You can see what filebot sees by doing filebot -list --q "modern family"

Hmm. I'll check next time. But if it refreshes every 2 days and S06E02 came out 10/1/14...I'd think it would have worked as expected. Maybe a bug with my specific situation? Works great now though! Thanks!

Since I can't reproduce the error I can't speculate. From experience this only happens if FileBot doesn't know about 6x02 yet, and that it works after a refresh also indicates that.

Next time this happens you can try -list and see if it's in the list or not. And if not you can try 1, 2, 3 days later and see for yourself when the cache times out and you'll get the new data.
