Combining filters & need some help :/

So I'm currently trying to work on getting some more advanced filters set up but for the life of me I can't get it to work correctly..

I seem to be able to get

to work but if I am downloading say Doctor Who [same goes for The Librarians vs The Librarians (2014) as well] and once it starts it's post processing and get to the filter it just ends up throwing

for some reason when I do things like filebot -list --filter yada yada yada in cmd it never shows anything at all [even a simple filebot -script fn:sysinfo doesn't produce anything http://i.imgur.com/KhoX8VU.png] even though if I do it through a .bat file the commands work fine and dandy but anyways..

At least 2 of my text documents are being read correctly...I can't really tell if my exclude.txt is being read or not really :/ the two text documents that are being read that I know for sure are my formatting.txt [which holds my series/movies/anime format] and my main filter.txt file which holds

If misleading data from a specific series is making trouble you can simply exclude it

[since I sometimes end up running into this issue it seems] as well as set up a age filter for american dad and possibly others..

I don't even really know where to begin for the GUI list panel, I've never used it before..

If your --filter fails at runtime (i.e. throws an exception rather than returning a value) then it'll be the same as --filter false meaning that the given episode will not be included and not be considered for matching.

So you're trying to say that you think that Doctor Who is the same as Doctor Who (2005)? No, it's not. It might as well be X and Y.

Try it yourself:

FYI:

readLines does nothing other than reading lines and giving you a List object, just like the List literal, so these two expressions will do exactly the same:

What you then do with that list is up to you.

There are many ways to condense the code, but you shouldn't use code you don't understand. So keep it simple.

You can use the ! operator to flip the value:

I'm not your personal computer science teacher. If you ask if you can use the != operator on two String objects that are not the same and expect true then I think you just didn't do your homework.

What you're trying to do is not difficult, but it's certainly an advanced feature, and depending on what you're doing, you will need to learn some basic Groovy.


If you ask a question specific to FileBot then I will be polite: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4536

If you ask a question about basic Groovy programming for the n-th time then I will be less polite.

I'd write the filter expression like this:

* The age < 7 filter works well because it limits the list of options to one single episode (for weekly shows) so you're essentially forcing the match to be the latest episode. If you do age < 30 then there'll be multiple options which is probably not much better than having multiple options due to not having an age filter at all.

* Despite having an age filter, you want to disable that age filter for certain shows, is what I think you're trying to do? For example the age < 30 || n != /Doctor Who/ part make no sense because it means the age filter is only enabled for Doctor Who but it doesn't make sense for Doctor Who since that one hasn't aired new episodes for 30+ years.

If you want the age filter to ONLY be active for certain shows, it'd look like this:

Actually the filter

works like so and these are just a few examples (that I had tested several times to make sure everything was working).

Example 1 -
I download American Dad, qBittorrent finishes download and starts my post processing script which has all my filebot stuff in it, filebot does its stuff and searches for episodes in the past 30 days and grabs the latest American Dad episode info no problem, renames it and then finishes up moving the file to the respected place I have setup with my formatting and cleans up afterwords.

Example 2 -
I download Doctor Who (2005) (or The Librarians (2014)) , qBittorrent finishes download and starts my post process script which has all my filebot stuff in it, filebot does it's stuff and searches for episodes and grabs every single episode info listed for Doctor Who (2005) (or The Librarians (2014)) but excludes Doctor Who (or The Librarians) from the search and it applies the correct episode data for the episode, and then finishes up moving the file to the respected place I have setup with my formatting and cleans up afterwords.

Example 3 -
I download say Westworld (the tv show) (or any other show not in the filter bit), qBittorrent finishes download and starts my post process script which has all my filebot stuff in it, filebot does it's stuff and searches for episodes and grabs every single episode info listed for the show and doesn't exclude any other show that was included in the search query and it applies the correct episode data for the episode, and then finishes up moving the file to the respected place I have setup with my formatting and cleans up afterwords.

For "examples 2 & 3" it doesn't apply the age filter at all when the filebot stuff is executed, but anyways I've actually set up a new filter this morning with a .csv list that is kinda setup like

but it'll ignore shows in some searches as well (like my example 2), that pretty much accomplishes what I was trying to do as well and it actually works unlike all my old attempts at trying things, so I can be safe to say that this thread is pretty much done now.
