The amc script will ignore the --db option and always use the most appropriate database for the files you're processing.
The old TheTVDB XML API seems to have a few issues recently. The latest FileBot 4.7.10 (only available via the Store) uses the new JSON API which is (hopefully) more stable.

No, because TheTVDB is treated special internally with lots of additional logic which makes it less error prone (in terms of mismatches) than other second-class databases (which are unsuitable for the amc script as a result).
I'd recommend using Windows 10 and purchasing the latest version from the Windows Store.
