How does Filebot know the Source?

Post by Ibanezmike »

Hey guys, just curious as to how Filebot knows what source a given file comes from? Say I have a copy of a movie file that was from a BluRay, and another movie file that came off a DVD, but the file names were just "Movie 1" and "Movie 2". How does Filebot know to mark one of them DVD and the other BluRay?

It can't. The {source} binding checks the filename for known patterns. If you can't tell the source based on the filename, then neither can FileBot.

I am able to drop something like this into Filebot and it somehow knows what the source is?

I see. You've probably renamed the file before and so FileBot remembers the original filename.

The original filename / metadata is stored as xattr so it can be accessed later on:
