Win 10 / Unraid

Post by cappapp »

Hi,

I purchased this on Win10 store, but I would like to use on my new Unraid server now when I'm not on my Win10 PC.
The web interface in Unraid is quite handy.

Do I need to purchase another licence or can I use my existing one?

Cheers

Yes, but you can request a complimentary license for the first year:

Yeah, I saw that. But the current Win10 is lifetime right?
1 Year is a big downgrade on my current licence.
I only use to clean up anything that doesn't get done with automation already.
It was more about convenience for me, was a no brainer to buy straight away when it first switched to a licence model.
Just at that time everything of mine was on a Windows platform and less automated, but now it's mixed and Unraid pretty much the heart of everything now.
Will there ever be an upgrade option in the future?
Always a handy tool to keep in my back pocket. :)

Yes, your Microsoft Store purchase (limited Windows only) is indeed completely separate from the universal license option (universal to all platforms including Linux) so no back-and-forth upgrades are planned, nor technically feasible:

 You can of course stick to your Microsoft Store purchase and process files remotely via network shares, because that's the tool you already own, easy choice. The Microsoft Store edition also includes the filebot command, so you can run any kind of automation from your Windows machine just as well.

Ah cool, MS refund. There's an idea. They've usually been pretty good with that in the past with me. No harm in trying I guess. Then I can get a cross platform licence :)

Thanks for your help.
Have a good one.
