I would like to learn Groovy but I am having some trouble finding beginner information online. Everything that I can find assumes I already know Java but, unfortunately, I don't. I took a Visual Basics class and a Linux shell scripting class a couple of years ago but that's it. Do I have to learn Java first? Do you happen to know if there is something online that teaches Groovy to an absolute beginner?

Groovy is a "dynamic language for the Java platform", so the two do very much run hand in hand, but there is a decent amount of info out there that will help get you going even if you're not familiar with Java.
