Bug Report: Drag n Drop "folder" from File Explorer in Windows

Hi

I think I've discovered a rather unusual and concerning behavior in FileBot.

Using the regular File Explorer in Windows, it's possible to drag-and-drop a "folder" from the address bar.
When doing so, the folder is deleted!!!
see video https://filebin.net/hvy2sqrrzypanumd
I don't think this is the desired behavior ;)

Maybe not a big problem when having files locally, but since I have mapped network drives (NAS, Synology DS416play) from where I want to rename files according Plex standard, the files are lost (and not found in the Recycle Bin  ).

I can reproduce this behaviour. Furthermore, if the folder is too large for the recycle bin, then the folder is irrevocably deleted and not just moved to the recycle bin. WTF?

:!: FileBot itself does not delete files. The new Windows 11 Files app seems to use a new / different drag-n-drop system for the address bar, and it seems that if an application accepts the "Move" drag-n-drop operation, the Windows 11 Files app then takes it upon itself to delete your files. That is very horrifying.

 I have re-uploaded and shared your video on Twitter to raise awareness of the issue:

EDIT:

FileBot r10670 now changes the code to always report "drop failed" on Windows when files are dropped. That will signal to the Windows 11 Files app to not delete the files that were move-dropped. Since Windows doesn't have any "drop failed" animations the changes should be fine and not lead to any changes in UI behaviour.

Any new version soon (not beta, not portable), so one can update without loosing any settings and presets?

Likely within the next 1-2 weeks. Unrelated to that, Backuping up your Settings is always a good idea if you have some complex formats or presets configured that you want to keep save.
