Filebot takes a lot of time at fetching artwork and, do not fetch all artwork

Hello,

I kindly request your support for the following problem.
I always select these options for my anime:

Fetch artwork
Fetch cover images.

Being honest, I'm not quite sure about their differences, but, it always dumped me:

Format: Select all

- backdrop.jpg
- clearart.png
- folder.jpg
- landscape.png
- logo.png
- poster.jpg
It wasn't that fast, but, probably it took under one minute to fetch them for a series like 12-15 episodes.
Now, starting this week, it took longer, waaay longer like 8-10 mins and, it do not longer fetch all those images, now it only fetch:

Format: Select all

- backdrop.jpg
- folder.jpg
- poster.jpg

FileBot version: 5.2.0
I also tried with 5.2.1 and result were the same and I rollback to 5.2.1 as something changed and my presets behave differently.

Groovy: Select all

This code "{drive}/{ f[0..2] }/"
In 5.2.0 retrieves C:\xx\xxx
In 5.2.1 retrieves C:\C:\xx\xxx

:idea: ConnectException is a fundamental network connection error unrelated to any specific version of FileBot, nor FileBot specifically, and simply means that the remote server does not accept connections at this time, for some reason, due to being down, due to your IP being blocked, impossible to know since the other side of the connection is completely unresponsive:

:?: What internet connection are you using? Country? ISP? VPN?


:?: Have you tried a different internet connection? e.g. try via mobile phone hotspot, a friends place, etc

:idea: Note that the console output above seems to be from an older version of FileBot. If possible, in the future, make sure to share logs from the latest FileBot release (or latest and older releases) so that we can better make sense of the logs and perhaps improve logging messages in the future. The latest release should already provide somewhat more human-readable error messages.


:idea: We are considering aborting the current post-process on network errors like this, since we can expect all HTTP requests to to fail if there's a fundamental network issue, so retrying ~10 seconds for each of those requests might not make sense. That said, command-line users may prefer things to go slowly and retry a lot on the off-chance that things will start working again after a little while, while GUI users can always click the cancel button (thus confirming that some artwork may be missing) to speed up and finish the process as-is. We'll see if we can collect more user feedback that might nudge us toward one way of doings things vs the other.

Hello,

Thanks for the quick response.
Regarding the filebot version, I'm using 5.2.0 instead of 5.2.1 due the reason explained above. If it's required to install to have another log I can do it.

I'm using ISP connection from Mexico. I tried with the very same connection an device and have different results, that is why I thought it was filebot related.

Example:

It's very possible that the server can detect / guess if a human-operated browser is making the request or a robot, and then apply different rate-limiting / anti-abuse measures. The issue could also be completely unrelated. Your browser may also be using a different DNS service, thus connecting to a different IP that happens to work.


So I ran tests and it does indeed seem that the server has some sort of client-detection that reads some of the incoming data and then decided to respond / not respond. It seems that all Java-based programs are somehow detected and blocked. A connection refused is very strange though, as the polite behaviour would be a error response of some kind.

tl;dr I can reproduce the issue from my end as well - at this moment in time - but not sure if I can do anything about it. This might be something that needs to be fixed by the fanart.tv developers, assuming that it is accidental and not intended. Might just be a side-effect collateral damage of blocking AI scrapers. You could double-check with the fanart.tv discord channel to see if there's any known issues right now.



UPDATE
The same code / HTTP request seems to work today though:

Groovy: Select all

Console Output: Select all

Result: java.nio.HeapByteBuffer[pos=0 lim=791376 cap=791376]
