1. Can't see New Preset.
When I click Edit Preset, the list is so long I can't see New Preset. I can click the tiny space between the end of the list and my toolbar [in the red rectangle], which opens the New Preset window but if there were more presets than are already present, that wouldn't be possible.

2. Deleting preset doesn't work.
Following on from the above, I decided to delete some of the presets I don't use to make the list shorter but when I open a preset and click Delete Preset, nothing happens - the preset is not deleted.

Yep, looks like you have too many Presets for your screen.


Which screen size / screen resolution / scale factor are you using? If you're using a high scale factor then you could temporarily use a smaller scale factor to allow for more things on screen at once.

Is it a screen size problem or is there plenty of space above the menu except it somehow isn't aware of the start menu bounds for some reason and is thus hidden by the start menu regardless of screen size?

The built-in templates cannot be deleted since they're not saved the way your own custom Presets are saved in the first place. If you open a built-in template to create a new custom preset from that, the Delete button is more of a "don't save this to my list of custom presets" button. You can however edit and delete your own custom presets (the ones with the pencil symbol) that are listed on top.

In this case you can create a new custom preset by simply clicking on any of the built-in templates (the ones with the plus symbol, e.g. Organize Movies for Plex) and then modify things from there. The New Preset button does exactly the same, except with empty configuration. All the buttons with the plus symbol add a new custom preset to your list of custom presets.





EDIT:

The built-in templates will auto-hide if you have more than 30 custom presets. You seem to only have ~10 though, so maybe we need to consider a lower limit there to account for small monitors or high scale factors.

150%. I can see everything if I change to 125% but that's not a good solution. The text is too small and it's hard on my eyes - even temporarily.

No, there isn't. What you see is the full screen height. I had to make another preset last night so now I can't even access the small area at the bottom in the red rectangle.

A list of 30 presets would be even longer than the list is now - only 28 are visible on the screen (at 150% scale).

That would be a great idea. Or even adding a vertical scroll bar would be helpful.

What’s your screen resolution? I tried on Windows with 200% on a standard 4K monitor and was able to fit 20+ custom presets in addition to the built-in presets. Maybe you have a screen height that is less than 1080 pixels? Maybe a small laptop?

Built-in presets cannot be deleted as they are not saved anywhere to begin with. It’s a constant in the code, not user data saved to a file or registry entry. Kinda like how you cannot delete the New Preset empty template button either. We could allow you to “mark as deleted” or “hide” I suppose but then again you will eventually run into size issues if you add more and more, and someone will then also need a way to un-hide.

In any case, you can create new custom presets as long as at least one of the built-in templates (+ sign) is still visible, so I’d just do that if you need many custom presets and have a small screen.

1920 x 1080. The recommended scale is 125%.

I see. A 1920x1080 at 150% would be equivalent to 1280x720 and we don't really test and optimize for that screen size. I'll add that to our tests and see what we can do though.


FileBot r11026 and higher will allow you to use the mouse wheel to scroll off-screen menu items into view. We’ve also lowered the auto-hide threshold for the built-in templates from 30 to 20.
