Filebot now crashes on Mac at start

Mac OSX 10.6.8
Core 2 Duo
Macbook A1181

Up until this evening, Filebot always worked just fine. Now when it starts, it immediately crashes.

I uninstalled it; redownloaded it; same thing happens.

Totally boggled.

Here's a video showing what is happening:

Any ideas?

FAQ wrote:Q: When I run filebot it fails with an UnsupportedClassVersionError. What does that mean?
If you get an error like Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: net/filebot/Main : Unsupported major.minor version 52.0 it means that you're running Java 6 or Java 7 and that you will need to upgrade to Java 8.
I'm sure you can get lots of helpful output by running from console:

It says:

Java from Oracle requires Mac OS X 10.7.3 or later. Your system has Mac OS X Version 10.6.8. This product can be installed on Version 10.7.3 or later.

Of course, my machine is not able to upgrade to any higher OS.

Any other solutions?

Can I download an older version of Filebot?

You're of luck then with the newer versions. If you can install Java 7 you can get FileBot 4.1 working, otherwise you're stuck with 3.8 (or maybe 4.0 if it works).

Not sure if I should post here or open a new thread but I also have this exact same error.

If you get an error like Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: net/filebot/Main : Unsupported major.minor version 52.0 it means that you're running Java 6 or Java 7 and that you will need to upgrade to Java 8.

I'm on OS X 10.9.4 and upgraded to Java 8 (Update 20, build 1.8.0_20-b26) and this error still occurs. Tried Filebot version 4.2, 4.5 b3 and it didn't help.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

***UPDATE***

Found another thread explaining how java has to be bound to the new version and followed the instructions for my Mac. It's all good now.
