Hey Red!
Running latest 4.7.9.
Just going through a bunch of my stuff and finally getting around to renaming.
Ran across a few that couldn't be identified or were mapped to something completely different, no matter what format I tried.
So here is what i was trying to update....if you need anything else let me know.
Code: Select all
Main Title Tonari no Totoro (a303)
Official Title My Neighbor Totoro
http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=303
Main Title Bakemono no Ko (a10967)
Official Title The Boy and the Beast
http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=10967

Main Title Summer Wars (a6249)
Official Title Summer Wars
http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=6249
Main Title Stranger: Mukou Hadan (a2185)
Official Title Sword of the Stranger
http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=2185
Main Title Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda. (a10959)
Official Title The Anthem of the Heart
http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=10959
Also last few versions there been a weird sorting issue...where like ep1-5 end up at the bottom of the list and rest are at the top of the list.
No matter how many other episodes of other shows you have in the list..that first one only one to split like that.

1.
AniDB only works in Episode Mode, and Movie type entries are explicitly excluded from the search index. So you cannot use AniDB to process Anime movies, because FileBot does not support AniDB in Movie Mode.
2.
If you have problems with Anime episodes, then I will need screenshots or file paths (as text) for running my own tests and find out what's going on.

Hey Red!
I just dragged over one anime to Filebot. Interesting enough not all of them do this. But more often than not, this is what i usually get.
This one is showing 2 different animes being dragged over at the same time...
Regarding the movies! I don't use movie mode for anything related to anime/anidb. I always use episode.
Here is example of ones I normally do
Files are on my local PC.
D:\downloads\
Run Filebot and move them to network nas
X:\Anime\

Sorry to revisit that old question, but,i find it gets harder to name movies
How about adding a 2ed anidb button, and reversing the Filter, so the ani movies are The things being Found,
They normal have the Complete move episode 1 series type of naming, so it could work i think ?

Can you provide example file paths?

For example "Aura Koga Maryuin`s Last War" / "Aura: Maryuuinkouga Saigo no Tatakai" the file Couldn't be renamed correctly based on the anidb Databaseyet its In there
https://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?s ... e&aid=9294 basically as " episode 1 complete movie"
in the old times, it was possible to use these with The normal series naming schemes, since a while movies seem to get filtert,
my idea was for a second anidb Button, ( like the Themoviedb one) that reverts exactly that filter (if its is one in your control and not from the anidb itselve), to be able to use the anidb again for Movies?
the same Problem i have now with "Mary to Majo no Hana - 1 - Complete Movie - [Anime Land] - 12649.mkv"
(the# is the animedb identifier
I hope thats ehat you meant

1.
I see. More recent versions of FileBot filter out Anime Movie type entries from the get go, as to avoid false positives and mismatches when processing normal episodes, which is the general use case that works best for the majority of users.
2.
Why not process movies with TheMovieDB? That'll work out of the box and kinda what Plex / Kodi / etc would expect.
Code: Select all
$ filebot -rename *.mp4 --db TheMovieDB -non-strict --action TEST
Rename movies using [TheMovieDB]
Auto-detect movie from context: [Aura Koga Maryuin`s Last War.mp4]
[TEST] from [Aura Koga Maryuin`s Last War.mp4] to [Aura Koga Maryuin's Last War (2013).mp4]
Processed 1 files
3.
I'm reluctant to add unnecessary features to the GUI unless there's a significant number of users that would benefit from this particular use case.
If you don't mind a bit of scripting yourself, the
-list command can help you get the movie name if you already know the AniDB ID, since
--q will interpret 5-plus-digit numbers as IDs:
Code: Select all
filebot -list --db AniDB --q 09294 --format {n}

NOTE:
-rename --q does not currently support this behavior.
EDIT:
r5684 add support for
-rename --q <Numeric ID> (same as -list --q) so you can do this:
Code: Select all
filebot -rename *.mp4 --db AniDB --q 09294 --format {n} -non-strict

I use Absolute Scanner with HamaTV. I put [anidb-id] in folder names so poor Plex has no issues matching things correctly. I exclusively use Anidb naming conventions for seasons/variants.

https://i.imgur.com/YdGTEDG.png
I also keep one folder for anime, it's a mix of seasons and movies, so I can't easily apply another scanner/agent for movies.
HamaTV deals with movies just fine if I add anidb- id to the folder name. I can't do so because filebot never shows me any results for anime movies. Part of my naming pattern for anime is {primaryTitle} [{vf}][anidb-{id}] and that never works.
I appreciate the fact that movie results can cause a mess, but we can have 'anidb movie' search separately. I'm not even fussed about automatching for expisodes, I just want to load results so I can "Send to rename" and then just follow naming pattern.
I didn't even finish my clean-up, but had following anime fail:
Maquia When the Promised Flower Blooms (2018)
Patema Inverted (2013)
Your Name. (2016)
Kotonoha no Niwa (2013)
(year in brackets is remnant from my old naming scheme before I adopted HamaTV).
I have lots of benefits from HamaTV processing all anime types in one library, like linking voice actors between titles, similar anime suggestions AND using Plex collections to group things up (I'm looking at you Monogatari...).
@rednoah can you please reconsider anidb movies?

AniDB Movie support probably isn't going to be a priority anytime soon.
However, if you don't mind using the CLI,
filebot -list -rename mode in combination with forced ID
--q 00000 can get the job done:
Code: Select all
$ filebot -list --q 13262 --db AniDB -rename a.mkv --format '{primaryTitle} [{vf}][anidb-{id}]'
[MOVE] from [a.mkv] to [Sayonara no Asa ni Yakusoku no Hana o Kazarou [720p][anidb-13262].mkv]
Processed 1 files

Based on that you, can then make your own
anidb-rename <id> <file> command for convenience.

Thanks for the response! CLI isn't the most convenient, it's faster to use moviedb and change id in folder name to anidb id.
I think there are some nuances, for example anidb can have ep 1 (complete movie), ep 2 (part 1), ep 3 (part 2) - all for the same title. That being said, I'm currently in the dog house becaue I used anidb api a bit too much today, so I'm getting java.lang.IllegalStateException: AniDB error: banned. I'll test CLI with my examples once I can

.
https://anidb.net/anime/8857 is an example of even more convoluted naming. It's a movie yeah, but there are
episodes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
To clarify, I totally understand low uptake on anidb movie integration, but that's totally not what I was aiming for in my earlier post. My flow could be as simple as:
- enter anidb id manually somewhere (even in search box as
anidbid:8857)
- filebot fetches and shows all 'episodes' for this movie from respective source. It's not a keyword search any more, it's 'gimmie what you got for this id'.
- I manually drag relevant 'episodes' to renaming panel
Expanding this further, -q is already a cli thing. Being able to search for specific anidb/tvdb/moviedb id could be handy for ambiguous names in general (moviedb search doesn't handle
shortest movie names well), this would improve gui's functionality a lot. I spent 20 mins today trying to find anime 'K' (
https://anidb.net/anime/9043), before figuring out I can do it via synonym.
What would work for me is just being able to -q for id via GUI and to not be hitting manual movie restriction on anidb (=I type this id, I must know what I want to get). Excluding movie results for keyword searches against anidb can remain as is.

Well, for now the use case you describe seems to be perfectly supported via the CLI usage given above, though GUI support for IDs would be nice. I'll see what I can do about it.
EDIT:
FileBot 6787 now allows you to enter numeric IDs for the selected database throughout the GUI and CLI whenever you're manually entering a search query / id.

Thank you, I love filebot a tiny bit more now, and I was already smitten enough to commit for life.

Hey noah, how would you go about searching via the ID in the gui? I can't figure it out.
And from what release is this available?
EDIT: Nevermind, I'm just stupid trying every combination except for only the ID itself in the beta build... Thanks anyway!!

Yep, you can just enter any numeric id to search in numeric id mode. It'll work for anything with at least 5 digits, and for movies you can use either numeric id, or tt<IMDBID> ids.
