Is there a way to just get the series year in the naming context, I know I can get the year the TV Series was initial aired. What about the series year.
ie: Vikings
Series 01 - 2013
Series 02 - 2014
Series 03 - 2015
etc.

I can see {y} but that take the initial year.

You can use {sy} for season years, or {airdate.year} for the airdate year of a particular episode.

If you want the season start year, then that's possible too, but a bit more tricky. You'd have to use {episodelist} and then figure out the appropriate value with your own code.
