IllegalStateException : AniDB error : banned

Hello,
I had started renaming with FileBot until I got this message: "IllegalStateException : AniDB error : banned"
So I visited your official page and saw that it was a paid software.

I paid, I activated my license, but I still get the same message:

"IllegalStateException : AniDB error : banned"

Thank you in advance for your help and sorry for my poor English, I am French.

Re: [FAQ] How do I activate my license?

This seems to be an error message directly from the AniDB API:

Code: Select all

AniDB error : banned
 Your IP specifically may have been temporarily or permanently banned by the AniDB servers. If you're abusing AniDB, please don't. Stop using it for a few days, and then try again. If you're using a VPN or some other kind of shared connection, then you'll need to try with a different connection from a different IP address.

 This error is completely unrelated to FileBot licensing.

FileBot and AniDB are completely unrelated. AniDB servers is known to ban IPs that send and excessive amount of requests.

So that means either you, or someone sharing the same IP. So you either need to stop abusing AniDB or get different IP which is not shared with someone abusing AniDB services.

If AniDB doesn't work for you, then I recommend using TheTVDB instead.

Sorry for my question in the wrong place and thanks rednoah for the trick to test with The TVDB, for many episodes it works :)
I wait a few days and I'll try again with Ani DB.

If you use TheTVDB and use Absolute Episode Order, the results should be more or less the same. Possibly better. Depends on the show and what you want.
