Re: Format 'Presets' & db toolbar
:?: I see your point, but what specifically do you not like about this solution? For me, who uses FileBot A LOT, the fewer clicks, the better. The fewer pulldowns, the better. The fewer hidden settings, the better. And it really helps to have buttons showing, and settings visible. If we have a choi...

Re: Replace characters once for whole filename?
That's much easier to understand!rednoah wrote: ↑29 Feb 2024, 12:47 The simple version will look more like this:Format: Select all
{ (n + ' - ' + s00e00 + ' - ' + t).replace('<':'﹤','>':'﹥',':':'꞉','"':'“','/':'⁄','|':'⼁','?':'?','*':'﹡','\\':'∖') }
Thanks!

Re: Format 'Presets' & db toolbar
EDIT: I'd be open for nifty UI ideas for "Pin Presets" feature though, but I haven't been able to think of a good solution. It would have to be something that is quick access but also does not clutter the UI at the same time. The current Presets button is already pretty good in that regar...

Re: Replace characters once for whole filename?
So 'allOf' is what we need. For me, translating this back to a simple episode format, it'd be: {allOf{n}{s00e00}{t}.join(' - ').replace('<':'﹤','>':'﹥',':':'꞉','"':'“','/':'⁄','|':'⼁','?':'?','*':'﹡','\\':'∖')} ({airdate.format('yyyy')}) It doesn't work without the 'join()' bit. Correct? Could ...

Re: Format 'Presets' & db toolbar
:!: Note that switching between databases or episode orders is a very bad idea depending on what you're doing. If TheMovieDB / Airdate Order does not work, then I'd make it work via Manual Matching . See How do I organize files for Plex? for details. If switching database / episode order ma...

Re: Format 'Presets'
Here's a quick and dirty mock-up of what I'm talking about. https://i.postimg.cc/wx1YvqGy/filebot-toolbar.png The toolbar can have other things on it of course. But i'd could have the databases on the left, and the user added Format Presets on the right. The Format presets ONLY change the format of ...

OK, i've added all my different formats as Presets. But... ...Maybe select a different database if the default isn't what you want. This doesn't work. If i use my Preset, which uses TheTVDB, but their data isn't correct, if i then Richt-Click and choose TheMovieDB instead, now it's not using the for...

Re: Format 'Presets'
http://i.imgur.com/rG3HFP5.png I've looked into the new Presets feature. But it's all too complicated. Having to define the db, etc. I just want to change the format being used. And it's not as quick as it could be. Again, when i drop in the file(s), i know exactly what format it needs to be. With ...

Replace characters once for whole filename?
Can we replace all the illegal characters just once for the whole resulting filename? Instead of multiple times, once for the Name, again for the Title, again for the PrimaryTitle, yet again for the Localised Title, etc. etc? As it can make the Episode/Movie Format veeeeeeeeery long and not as simpl...

Re: Store formats in User's profile to prevent loss.
Thanks. But please appreciate that (as with all software) only a tiny fraction of your users look at the forums, and only a fraction of those will actually write posts. And only some of those will be aware that they do in fact lose everything if time is not spent actively backing them up, copying th...

Re: Store formats in User's profile to prevent loss.
We are not talking about FileBot's settings! No one cares about the settings... They can very quickly be reset. We're talking about the formats we create! ONLY THEM! The settings stay put, in their standard locations. We don't care. The formats we create should be stored in the user profiles with al...

Poll: Hand's up who's lost all of their custom formats after a crash/reinstall?
How many of us have previously lost all the custom formats we've spent hours, days, weeks crafting, after our HDD crashed, or we clean-installed our OS, etc, etc... I did a few years ago, and spent hour trying to recreate them all. Frustrating as hell. I then searched the registry and found where th...

Re: Store formats in User's profile to prevent loss.
The most flexible solution would be to, yes, ask us where we would like to save our formats at first start up. Great idea. I'd make the default, initial suggested location: %USERPROFILE%/FileBot Formats/FileBot Formats.txt $HOME/FileBot Formats/FileBot Formats.txt or something similar. (https://en.w...

Re: Store formats in User's profile to prevent loss.
Storing created work in the user's profile folders absolutely is standard practice! MS Word doesn't save word documents in the AppData folder... it stores them in the Documents folder! Our formats are not just 'settings'... they're not the same as whether a dark theme is set, etc. They're the summat...

Re: Store formats in User's profile to prevent loss.
Then can we have FileBot store these setting in the user's profile folder by default? Having to get all technical and specifically configure FileBot to do the above is not how software should work. And FB's users have to have actively seek out this specific feature, which effectively none will. So a...

Re: Where does Filebot now save it's formats?
 You can configure FileBot store your preferences in a user-defined path, e.g. on your Dropbox folder, but that's a separate topic though. Indeed. I've created a Feature Request post here: https://www.filebot.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=10688 This request that FileBot stores our custom...

Store formats in User's profile to prevent loss.
Would it be possible for FileBot to store the custom formats that we create in our user profile folder... For instance, in a 'FileBot Formats' folder under 'Documents', or similar, equivalent on each platform. For many of us, our custom formats that we create are crafted from hours and hours of goog...

Re: Where does Filebot now save it's formats?
OK, i've managed to export my current prefs, and see the test format i just made. But how do i decipher the formats i have from my reg file. Where does Filebot now save it's formats?
Hi, I've previously just had FileBot's JavaSoft registry key saved to backup all the formats i've used... And just merging that 'reg file has allowed me to restore the formats to FileBot after many, many clean installs of windows over the years. It's worked just great. But today, after clean install...

Filebot doesn't like ampersands '&'
If a filename mistakenly has an ampersand, &, instead of an 'and', it often (at least sometime, if not always) fails to identify the file.
Could fb have the ability to see 'and' and & as the same? So that the files are IDed.

I requested this a year ago. https://www.filebot.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2654&p=15027#p15027 Putting the version in the window title, like the portable version, is the best/obvious solution. Still no link to your website. No link to the FAQ. Perhaps just put FileBot into a more famili...

Yep. That makes a lot more sense. Especially having "quick" buttons for specific data source + formats. At least the former request has come up a few times. I'm planning a completely new UI for FileBot, so I'm definitely take this into account. For the current UI it's kinda it's kinda in ...

Re: Format 'Presets'
Not actually knowing which files should be formatted with which format is of course a valid point. Whatever general rules you have in you mind there's probably a couple of exceptions. And those exceptions are the only thing that would really blow up the format. ... Yep, those pesky exceptions! LOL!...
