Here's an example of how to set up an automated task with FileBot Node:
Prepare input folder /volume1/complete. That's where we put our new files. Nicely named, badly named, in folders, flat files, anything goes.
Prepare output folder /volume1/media. That's where we will find our neatly organized media files. We never add files to this folder manually. We only ever touch /volume1/complete and let FileBot generate the /volume1/media structure.
Open the FileBot Node Client application and input our configuration:
- Set Input Folder to /volume1/complete
- Set Output Folder to /volume1/media
- Set Action to hardlink or copy
- Set Exclude List to .excludes
Now that everything is set up we can run filebot by clicking Execute or Test and see if it works as expected in the output log. If everything looks good, we can then click Schedule to schedule the command to run every day at 4am.
Scheduled tasks can be modified or deleted in the Synology Task Scheduler.
Done! Now the only manual job left is adding files to /volume1/complete and that can easily be automated depending on the setup.
Consider separating input files into dedicated input folders for different use cases, so that you can have a dedicated prepared task with optimized custom options (i.e. different amc script command) for each use case:
- Force Movie Mode for /input/Movies via --def ut_label=Movies
- Force TV Series Episode Mode for /input/TV via --def ut_label=TV
- Force Anime Episode Mode for /input/Anime via --def ut_label=Anime
- Force Recent Episode Mode for /input/Weekly via --def ut_label=TV (to force TV Series Episode Mode) and --filter "age < 5" (to force this weeks episode)
