v.4.1 doesn't work on OS X 10.6.8

Should I assume that OS X 10.6.8 is no longer supported and that 4.0 is the last Snow Leopard-compatible version?

As long as you have Java 8 it'll run an any platform of any version.

Sadly, Java 8 requires OS X 10.7.3 or later.

Sorry, then OSX 10.7.3 is the new lower bound.

For now Java 7 is OK as well, but I think that one has the same system requirements as Java 8.
