Looking for testers on Synology NAS

Hello,

I'm looking for people who are using Synology NAS (and/or other ARM based NAS devices) that are willing to help me test features.

If you wanna participate in testing the latest features please leave a comment and add some info about your NAS, which device, what CPU (arm/atom), etc

Boris from the 7zip-JBinding project said he's working on support for ARM arch so maybe extract support will be available for your NAS as well
Evaluate recent papers on Video-Duplicate-Detection and see if we can come up with some sort of perceptual video hash (for this I could use the help of people with lots of media for collecting P/R statistics)

Hey there, I have a Synology DS412+ and would love to help out. I'm running sickbeard and couch potato which currently do all the renaming but would love to move all of the renaming over to filebot. Is a GUI in the works for the filebot package on Synology devices?

I am running a Netgear ReadyNAS102 (firmware 6.1.4) that uses armv71.

I've been looking for a script like Filebot to sort my downloads into my media folder. I would love to do some testing if I'm even able to get it running with that setup.

I'm already running an altered version of the groovy script for about a year now. Even if I'm having renaming problems lately. But that is a different topic.

Here's something you can test with for all the people with ARM devices.

Support for -extract on ARM:

1. You could try to download the lib7-Zip-JBinding.so for ARM from here and see if it works:
http://sourceforge.net/p/filebot/code/H ... linux-arm/

2. If it doesn't maybe you also need the r1921 jar.

Please send me all the logs you get.

This command will be helpful to tell me exactly on what HW you're on:

In the next few months, after 4.0 is out, I might be able to work on a (possibly commercial) filebot package for with DSM WebUI. Other than making everything work out of the box, the new WebUI will be a opportunity to rethink the UI design of FileBot, cause DSM WebUI for FileBot may be very different then the current GUI app for various reasons.

It would be very helpful what users would like to see in a FileBot WebUI.

* What do you think it should like like?
* What use-cases do you have? What workflow do you think would make sense?
* What features should be supported?

The more input I get from my users the better the final product will be. So I hope you all can give me some good ideas.

Extras Questions:
* Do you prefer a new DSM WebUI or rather add support to the current FileBot GUI to work with remote file systems?

Happy to help out where I can. Am currently running a modified sorty/cleaner groovy script for renaming TV Shows and Movies, which is working great, so thanks for all your hard work already!

Using a Synology DS1812+, running DSM 5.0-4458 with an Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU D2700 @ 2.13GHz.

Hi, great to hear that you consider taking filebot officially further that way, good luck with this endeavour.

Features that would be interesting:
-definition of basic folders
-picking up scheme from already renamed files/folder structure (basic reverse engineering naming scheme)
==why because everyone who is interested in filebot has large media library==

-integration with synology packages:
==i.e., someone uses "download station" wants to have their shows auto-renamed second after download is finished without manual work==

I'll keep updating ideas.

First the wishes and at the end you'll find technical info about my Syno box.

Wishes:

A standard synology package available to install through SynoCommunity (http://www.synocommunity.com), they have Spkgsrc in place (https://github.com/SynoCommunity/spksrc) to buld packages and publish them so every NAS can install the appropriate package, depending on the architecture.
Integration with Download Station. It would be great to download files and then execute filebot. But I guess this needs some integration on the DSM side.
A new web GUI, hosted on Synology would be great. Frankly speaking I don't like the standard FileBot GUI, and I only use filebot with groovy scripts directly on the NAS.

Thanks to spksrc, I managed to compile libmediainfo for mv6281 using and the syno-88f6281 cross-compiler toolchain and should work for all ARMv6/7 or higher.

If have an ARM device you can grab libmediainfo.so and libzen.so from here:

Next step is lib7-Zip-JBinding.so and fpcalc.

PS: If you need ARM binaries for libmediainfo for any other architecture it should be quite easy to compile those now.

UPDATE

* The latest FileBot 4.1 RC3 arm/ipk packages contain fpcalc binaries (armada370) so it'll work with DS213j to the very least.
* Groovy should be 3x faster with FileBot 4.1 RC3 now (on my DS213j anyway)

I don't really have time to work on a WebUI right now so that'll have to wait until the Summer. Then I'll have time to continue on a proper Synology package.

FileBot now has it's own Package Source.

Notes:
* Java 8 needs to be installed properly, i.e. java -version works
* Installs filebot console tool
* Installs only platform-independent code, so no support for mediainfo, 7zip and fpcalc

If you're lucky one of the native library binaries will work for your platform. You can tell java where to look for native libraries by setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH.

Sorry, that one is too old. Only got 128 MB RAM and Java is limited to 56 MB. That's not enough. Simple filebot calls should work fine, but advanced scripts like amc will run out of memory.

Have you tried running it on a single file? Does that even work? If yes you can start looking into the find command and then call filebot/amc for each file from console.

That won't make much of a difference. Probably depends more on what exactly / how many files you're processing. You could try setting -Xmx100m (or lower or higher depending on what works) in the java call in filebot.sh to increase the default memory limit.

Obviously FileBot needs to write to the cache folder, but I don't know how to fix this.

After install DSM should be calling this script and give you permissions for that folder:

For some reason your user account does not have permission to access the cache folder. So you'll need to fix these permissions manually.

Hi,
I would like to test FileBot, however I have a DS209 which can not go to DSM 5.0 which seems to be a prereq.
Is there an older version that runs on DSM 4,2

I've never tested with DSM 4.2 but as long as it run Java 8 it should be fine. You can manually "install" things by just extracting the .spk or the portable package.

Though if it's an older device it might not have enough memory to run FileBot. I'd say 256+ MB should do, but less might require some tinkering.

PS: I'm pretty sure DSM 5.0 runs on any DSM 4.2 device just as well, since DSM runs in the browser and the NAS server-side component should run on any hardware really.

I updated the INFO file to
firmware="4.2"
Now I can install and run FileBot.
I do have Java 8.0

I am trying to rename TBBT videos to the standard naming.
Not sure whether I use FileBot correctly.
It did do the rename but complains about metadata problems. I actually don't need them.

It's just a warning that xattr is not supported on your platform. You can pass -no-xattr to disable that feature.

I managed to compile a libjnidispatch.so on my NAS and packaged it on jna.jar, but it seems it doesn't work:

Most of the time it just works (using mainly for renaming and subtitles) - but recently I noticed this:

Future version of FileBot (v4.5.7 and above) will delegate all native dependencies (except the JRE) to other packages.

* Extract features will be implemented via the 7z cmdline utility which is available by default (instead of native libraries)
* libmediainfo is provided by SynoCommunity MediaInfo package
* fpcalc cmdline utility is provided by SynoCommunity (currently in development)

PS: I've starting working on a very basic DSM UI again as well. You can follow the (very) slow progress here.
