Cannot install x84 or x64 windows versions

I was attempting to upgrade from an older v3.x version to v4.2. When I ran the .exe installer and the 64 bit version was downloaded and installed. Or so it said. When i ran FileBot I got the upgrade message again. I went into control panel and uninstalled FileBot. I then tried to download from sourceforge the x86 and x64 installers manually. Both say they finished installing, but there is no FileBot directory being created in either Program Files directory.

I then opened up the registry and deleted anything that i could find mentioning "FileBot", rebooted and tried the installers again. Same result.

Any ideas on how i can get FileBot re-installed?

The .msi package can't not work, or you can blame Microsoft. I can't see why it wouldn't work, but I can imagine there are permission issues.

The next fail-safe(r) solution would be to use the portable package.
