Permissions issue on macOS

I have been trying for a week to correct this and now coming here as I have run out of ideas

I am recently upgraded to Sonoma
My volumes are on a remote Mac mini and I have them mounted locally.

You show us /Volumes/PlexMedia_1 which look good at a glance:

However, you are trying to move / copy files to /Volumes/PlexServer_2 which seems to not exist and cannot be created:

FileBot naturally cannot create folders in /Volumes because it's a macOS system folder. You may need to update the output folder in your format whenever you mount a network volume since macOS may use a different mount mount (by adding a number to the folder name) if the default mount point is already taken.

I have made many changes while trying to fix this. Some of the information in the first posts on this post are no longer relevant. I assure you the paths do exist - I don't think that is what that error message is saying. It's saying there is a permissions issue.

I did run the move command again and logged output.

While the shares are mounted I created a new folder to see what the permissions would be.

So the server share is not allowing an admin account to create new folders with permissions for all users while mounted by the client.

I tried as you suggested. Using a different path /Volumes/PlexMedia_1/Plex/... and ran into the exact same issue.

The mv command confirms that you can move files to /Volumes/PlexMedia_2/pTemp (notably not /Volumes/PlexMedia_2 nor /Volumes/PlexServer_2/Plex) but according to the format given above you want FileBot to create a new folder /Volumes/PlexMedia_2/Plex as this folder does not yet exist:

Poor editing Sorry for the confusing post, I mixed different states in one post as I had saved a draft earlier, worked on it for a day, then came back to the draft (you said can't use root volume - so I added a new folder and same problem)

The directories do exist. Should I have unixfs=true set in preferences? I do.

When using my preset I get appropriate directories. I use the same paths for the mv command which completes without error.

Yes, did that as well. No matter.

Here is the current state of permissions... promise. Look at the parent directory. It seems no matter what I do that will not change. When I create new folders while on the client they inherit the parent directory permissions i.e. /Volumes

Umask for user apps
Log in as an administrator and enter the following command in Terminal, replacing nnn with the umask value, such as 027 or 002. This command sets the user's umask for every app they open, including apps they access from the command line and new files that those apps create. After entering this command, you might need to restart your Mac.
