How to renumber the Track or # field on a file

Post by rstockstill »

Hi folks,

Newbie here.

I get from time to time audio books that I listen to while driving. The problem is that the track order is predicated on an inconsistent format, single digit numbers from 1 to 10, followed by two digit numbers etc. This throws the actual listening order out of whack while listening in my car.

My solution has been to manually change the value to a 3 digit number by altering the Properties, Details, and then the “#” field. Labor intensive and a general P.I.T.A.

How can I use FileBot to change the "#" field on the file names from a 1 or 2 digit number to a consistent 3 digit number ?

Please advise when you get a moment.

Much appreciated & till later,

:?: Do you want to just rename files or rewrite ID3 metadata?

:idea: FileBot can rewrite file names but cannot modify / rewrite file contents.

:arrow: e.g. Plain File Format that zero-pads all the numbers in the file name:

Format: Select all

{ fn.replaceAll(/\d+/){ it.pad(3) } }
:idea: Please read the FAQ and How to Request Help.
