Old series which isn’t on any database

Hi

Reaching out for help about what to do to manually add/rename episodes in case of v obscure TV series from 1972. It’s The British Empire: Echoes of Brittania’s Rule (Not to be confused with 2002 series of similar name)

No complications matching DVD compilations to episodes this time. I have the 13 episodes of the series as separate mp4 files. Just need to know how to complete the task.

Needless to say, matching from TVDB et al is doomed to failure.

The series is in TVDB. Entered catalogue number and matched straightaway.

Can you paste a sample file name for testing?

In general, FileBot cannot process movies / episodes that are not in the database, at least not with movie / series / episode detection. Plain File Mode can be an option for generic batch rename jobs, but since the series at hand is in the database after all, that is less relevant here.

I spoke too soon. The series ref in TVDB is 399503. When I added that to the folder name, FileBot matched correctly and I renamed episodes. Unfortunately, the content is not showing in my Plex collection. Can you help please.

Did you configure Plex to use TMDB or TVDB? TMDB is used by default unless specified otherwise in the library settings.

Thanks for swift response. I’ve gone into legacy settings and selected programme tab. If I select TMDB, I can then check TVDB. Confusing as the parallel TVDB tab was already showing TVDB selected but greyed out.

When I scanned files the series appears. However, no sound. These are mp4 files. (Digital files from supplier)

That's probably a setting or misconfiguration. FileBot itself doesn't modify files so it cannot delete or disable audio tracks. You can start by checking the MediaInfo table what audio tracks should be in the file, and then use something like VLC to play the file locally and confirm that everything works, and then take it from there.

Will investigate as advised. Weird thing is sound ok on Android, not laptop. (Assumed it would be both)
