Removed file names

Post by Custompcrs »

Hi All,

I was renaming a a bunch of different movies and when I updated my library on xbmc the scrapers couldn't find anything.
It seems like when I used filebot it removed all of my file names but renamed the folders appropriately.

#Current File Structure#
X:\Media\Movies\Avatar (2009)\.avi
X:\Media\Movies\Avatar (2009)\.srt

It needs to be

X:\Media\Movies\Avatar (2009)\Avatar (2009).avi
X:\Media\Movies\Avatar (2009)\Avatar (2009).srt

Does anyone know how to make the files inherit parent folder name?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks David.

Hi Custompcrs,

Looks like your naming scheme only referenced what to do with the folders..

By default, FileBot should take into consideration the folder name (easiest way is to actually add the folder rather than browse into it and add the files tho), but if it can't match them, try using the GUI and holding the 'shift' key while clicking on the database you want to scan (i.e. hold shift when pressing 'imdb' or whatever) and it will ask you to specify what you want to search for (in this case, Avatar).

This process will probably be a massive time sink though, so I'd probably consider using FileBot's history/revert functionality to undo your previous rename and try again once you've corrected your naming scheme (an example of that here).

Let us know how you go :-)
