If you see Binding "media": Failed to read media info: Binding "file": undefined in the Format Editor then you simply have not yet selected a sample file for testing. Where does the value of {vf} come from? It comes from the sample file you have selected for testing, which can be undefined if you have not yet done so. You can select a sample file for testings via the 
View Bindings button.
If you open the Format Editor via Double-Click ➔ Edit Match on a Movie / File match, then that Movie / File match will be used for testing for your convenience. In this case, FileBot will use the currently selected match information (i.e. Movie / Episode object and File path) instead of predefined sample information.
