Sometimes FileBot is not sure which film it is dealing with and prompts the user to decide.

Unfortunately those options are also sometimes not helpful.

To improve the situation it would be great if users could call up a search dialog that allows basic inputs like parts of the file name and year ...

Movies with localized title + original and alternative titles

I want to keep movie files

in a Plex-compatible format
with the localized title leading.
In addition the original title should be added in square brackets.
If the local title is equal to the original title, then the original ...

I cannot install the beta version with the following error message:

„FileBot_4.9.4.pkg“ kann nicht geöffnet werden, da Apple darin nicht nach Schadsoftware suchen kann.

Apparently the Apple provided installer refuses to run the pkg, because it cannot inspect for malware.

This is on a M1 Mac ...

Works like a charm.

There are a few exceptions, where the results differ from expectations.
But these appear to be because of the database - TheMovieDB in my case. In that case, of course, there is nothing FileBot can do.
I am still providing examples in case I am mistaken ...

This formula gets close: {n.colon(' - ')} ({y}){' pt'+pi}{subt} [{primaryTitle}]

What I do:


Drop a list of files to Filebot
Match them via Filebot
Check and sometimes amend results via "Edit name"
After editing the file name in the text box, I press "return" and come back to the file list
Everything looks the same as before (except of course the amended file name in the ...

I would like to see alternative titles added in the file name.
These could be the original title name, alternative spellings, other names for the same film.

Like so:

Außer Kontrolle (1996) [Chain Reaction]
Der Retter (2009) [A L'Origine]
8 Namen für die Liebe (2014) [Acht Namen für die Liebe ...

Confirmed.

The original file had the single character "…" at the beginning.
Filebot renamed that to a three character "..." which lead to the file being hidden.

A common menu entry is

• "Copy ctrl-c"

Filebot menu examples would be

• "Edit Match F3"

• "Edit Name F2"

I have a film that has "…" in its name like so: "… this is the movie name".

File Bot matches this file to "… this is the movie name (1997)" with the year, and Filebot further wants to validate the file name by removing the "…" at the beginning.

The "…" however is a) part of the movie name and b ...

I use "Edit Format / Match / Name" a lot.

It would be useful to have keyboard shortcuts for these.

(I would provide a screenshot, if only I were not too limited in figuring out how to perform such a basic task in this forum. )
