Re: Restore multi-episode match from xattr

I can't reproduce issues with xattr not working. No issues with long paths on my Windows 10 machine. Test Case : 1. Process movie file and format to long file path (i.e. write xattr to long file path) filebot -rename *.mkv --db TheMovieDB --format "{folder}/{'X'*245}/{'Y'*245}" 2. Check if we can re...

Re: Restore multi-episode match from xattr

If you want to replace / update the media info in the file name then you can use Plain File Mode . Your plain file format just has to strip out media info from {fn} so that you can rewrite that part. You can make your life easy by putting the media info into a trailing [...] which can easily be matc...

Re: Renaming TV show folders

No worries. Just drop in the original files, and the "copy of your entire library" is then generated by FileBot according to your custom format as you press the Rename button.

Re: Renaming TV show folders

now just gotta wait 16 hours lol :!: You did not set Action: Hardlink . 4. Set Action to Hardlink because we want to keep a file system entry in both the old location and new location (i.e. you can have the same file twice or many times at different file paths without using additional disk space) :...

Re: Renaming TV show folders

My only concern is that renaming my entire TV library to {plex} will mess with my current library on Plex (there's a few tweaks I've made manually here and there within Plex such as adding custom artwork or editing Sort Titles). What can I do to keep this from happening? Easy. Copy your entire libr...

Re: Renaming TV show folders

'll just keep manually renaming them, it's not that much work :) No! Don't do that! :?: How attached are you to your specific folder names? "TV", "30 Rock (2006)", "S01", etc :?: Why not just organize all your files with the {plex} format and leave it at that? Here's what I'd do: 1. Drop your E:/TV...

Re: FPS binding reference

You could do an explicitly check to pick one value or another: { 'CFR' in video.FrameRateMode ? fps : 'variable fps' } or just try one and default to another in case of failure: { any{fps}{'variable fps'} } Note that you will always want to view MediaInfo properties from within FileBot, becau...

Re: Renaming TV show folders

You can only rename Movie / Episode folders, just like you can only rename Movie / Episode files. You cannot rename Series folders or Season folders. Note that FileBot cannot process or identify folders that are conceptually anything other than "Movie" or "Episode". You therefore cannot LINK-DROP a...

Re: Restore multi-episode match from xattr

if I manually rename a file I also have to remember to manually rename its xattr counterpart folder name inside the hidden .xattr folder at the very least for .xattr data to stay intact Exactly that. Native file system xattr can be finicky, but at least they live and move and die with the "parent" ...

So I can copy flash to spy vs spy folder on J: along with its hidden xatrr folder and it no longer works. Re: Restore multi-episode match from xattr

An empty value you should do the trick:

Code: Select all

filebot -script fn:properties --def net.filebot.xattr.store=
You can also manually edit the configuration file. Please read the console output of the command above to find the location of the configuration file.

Re: Restore multi-episode match from xattr

What happens if you configure FileBot to use .xattr folders as default storage engine for metadata?

Re: Restore multi-episode match from xattr

If i copy the file back to b:\1 or any other shorter folder name it still works so it also does not break during copy. That could be the reason. However, do keep in mind that FileBot will cache xattr metadata in memory, so if the file path and the last-modified date don't change (e.g. by moving the...

Re: Restore multi-episode match from xattr

Looks like there are remote network drives in the mix. Is your F: drive a local drive or a remote drive? I'd run tests on a local NTFS drive first, e.g. on your Desktop. If you're using remote network drives via SMB (Windows incorrectly identifies those as NTFS too) then all bets are off as far as x...

Re: Restore multi-episode match from xattr

Note that the .xattr folders are not relevant unless FileBot is explicitly configured to use them. By default, on Windows, FileBot will store xattr metadata into NTFS Alternative Streams.

Re: Restore multi-episode match from xattr

Yep, that means that 2 of the files just don't have any xattr at all. The xattr metadata is stored when you click Rename and the value is unrelated to whatever custom format you may or may not be using. The log may or may not shed light on the issue: https://www.filebot.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18...

Re: Multi Episode tv shows & Plex

So far this would be perfect for 99% of tv shows, except Spy VS SPY which has 26 very short episodes in one episodes. it seems to stop working after 6 episodes max. Although xattr may have a physical limit, maybe as low as 4k on some platforms, it would either work or not work at all. So the match ...

Re: Multi Episode tv shows & Plex

Extended Attributes are a file system feature of modern file systems, e.g. NTFS Alternative Streams on Windows. However, most users and programs are unaware of them, so they get lost easily, e.g. moving files to a file system that doesn't support NTFS Alternative Streams or some program (i.e. almos...

Re: Multi Episode tv shows & Plex

tl;dr Use on Episode Mode ➔ TheTVDB when processing files for the first time. Use Smart Mode ➔ Attributes all subsequent times. The latter is instant, perfect (i.e. guaranteed same match as last time as stored to xattr metadata) and offline.
