Hi. I just bought FileBot 4.6 for Mac. Based on online reviews it looked promising. I followed both video tutorials and online instructions.
I have a NAS with some thousands film titles I wanted to clean up. After checking my alternations I discovered EVERY filename (i.a.name of movie)
was wrong. They where replaced with some other movie in my library. This happened to all my files. To me, this feels like a bad deal. Pay for something to
have it messed up. I will restrain from foul language, but I am not satisfied with FileBot!
What am I doing wrong, or is it FileBot
Help would be appreciated
Thanks, Eddy
Every file name wrong!
Re: Every file name wrong!
Please post some of the file paths that don't get matched to the correct movie/episode so I can try this myself. Also, screenshots that illustrate the problem might helpful.
EDIT:
Is the problem movie auto-detection? Did you check that all the files got matched with the correct movies before clicking Rename?
Is the problem that somehow filenames got corrupted on the NAS even though everything looks good in FileBot?

Re: Every file name wrong!
Hi. Here is the path:
afp://Synology._afpovertcp._tcp.local/plex film/Stalker (1979) Andrei Tarkovsky
Also an example where every file including srt/idx files are named after different films.
(Not able to upload a screenshot, sorry)
It looked fine when I checked before converting
Thanks, Eddy

Re: Every file name wrong!
1.
Alright, auto-detection with easy-to-guess folder names such as Stalker (1979) Andrei Tarkovsky is definitely not the issue then.
It'll look something like this:

snag.gy is a great place to upload screenshots.
2.
afp://Synology._afpovertcp._tcp.local looks strange. Did you click Get Info? That's not actually file path. The file path should be something like /Volumes/<shared folder>/plex film/Stalker (1979) Andrei Tarkovsky/???.mp4
Have you tried renaming local files? If that works fine, but you get really strange behaviour with remote files, then there's a lower level issue with OS X or the NAS that applications like FileBot can't do anything about.
Also, the afp protocol has been discontinued in favour of smb with OS X 10.9 as far as I know, and especially non-Apple devices like Synology NAS will have much better support for smb (well-tested) than afp (abandoned). Is there any reason you're using afp instead of smb shares? It's definitely worth a try to connect to the NAS via smb and see if that fixes the problem.
EDIT:
Mac OS X and Synology NAS are updated to the latest version, right?

I'll look into those issues and reply

Is it working now? Did you manage to solve the problem?
