Adding other meta sites?

Is there an undocumented (or documented, in case I missed it) way to add our own meta look-up sites?

For example, sometimes I find that none of the built-in look-up sites (I usually use TheTVDb) have info on a series or a movie I'm trying to rename with, while a site like TVShow Time will, so I'm sort of "stuck" not being able to use FB.


One quick example that I just ran into:

Trying to rename the old cartoon, "Casper the Friendly Ghost"

Nothing for it on TVDb

Found though, on TVShow Time


If not, any chance of adding TVShow Time to the list? They've got an API.

It's in TheTVDB, but not filed the way you want it to:

You can ask in the forums and make your case to make it a separate series. Maybe they'll allow it.


EDIT: Maybe TVmaze is more friendly with adding new shows / different order.

The API seems to be primarily about what their app does, and FileBot would need to log in as your TVShow Time user, so very ill-suited for what FileBot does and how it works.

Yea, I had already seen how it was filed there, and that forum post, but I'm way too busy to get into all that debating and case making, etc., over some show titles, lol.

Another idea, because I just ran into a similar issue; trying to get the names from TVDb for "Ultraman" isn't working out too well for me in FB, even trying various names to search for, by hitting Shift first. Would it be possible to add in the ability to just enter the actual Series ID (as shown on TVDb) and have FB directly use that, instead of relying only on a matching search? For example, this page:

If I hit Shift while clicking the Rename, and instead of typing in some search term, just enter in: 73567

Have it do it's scraping directly from that show.

Plex offers this when matching metadata to a show. You can just type in the IMDB ID of a show and it'll pull from that exact show.

Why enter an arbitrary number when entering "Ultraman" works just fine? I tried Episodes panel and SHIFT-CLICK datasource and in both cases entering "Ultraman" works as expected.

Also, TheTVDB names are unique, so the show name is a unique identifier just as much as the series id is.
