Why are you using 32-bit Java on 64-bit Windows? You must use 64-bit Java on 64-bit Windows. Please read the FAQ.

nowhere does it say I'm using 32-bit java
the update downloaded automatically once I confirmed the software update
where can I download the 64-bit version manually?

1.
Run the sysinfo script and see what it says. It'll probably say that you're using 32-bit Java.

2.
So when you tried to google "64 bit java" you didn't get any results?

That is odd, because I got this:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/ ... index.html

If I start Filebot (platform) or Filebot (console), renaming works like a charm

Not at all.

1.
FileBot uses the Windows Shell MOVE/COPY functions so the 64-bit native libraries shipped with FileBot will need to interface with the 64-bit OS. If the Java process is 32-bit then that is impossible.

2.
FileBot (platform) and FileBot (console) use the Java MOVE/COPY functions. Thanks to Java being platform-independent, it'll work on all platforms. The MediaInfo and 7zip native features could never have worked though, and the reasons for that are thoroughly explained in the FAQ.

Older versions just happened to accidentally kinda mostly work, because the 64-bit version accidentally shipped with some (but not all) 32-bit libraries.
