Canonical discontinued the Ubuntu Software Center years ago. It's not possible to purchase or pay for FileBot on Ubuntu.

Strange indeed. Is this email many years old? You might want to contact Canonical if you have issues with Ubuntu software. Bottom line, there is no version of FileBot for Linux right now, there's no free version and there's no paid version.

I am currently using filebot 4.7.9 on 64bit ubuntu 17.10

You paid 3 USD to Canonical in 2013 on a platform that doesn't exist anymore. You could contact Canonical support but I'm not sure if anybody is still working there.

As for FileBot, unfortunately, I don't have a solution for you right now, as none exists. The Patreon page is going well though, so you should be able to get a new well supported release soon enough.
