You can install and try the latest version just fine without plugging in a license. It'll ask for one if and when required, such as when actually renaming files. But matching and formatting and --action test will run just fine.

:idea: I recommend the $6 option for the vast majority of users.

:idea: The older versions aren't being maintained or tested, but if this is also an issue with the latest version, then I will look into it and fix it.
