Request: FFS... have some mercy

Post by bearr »

Contextual menus are supposed to be... wait for it... CONTEXTUAL!

I spent close to an hour matching my huge library to IMDB then went to match 4 (FOUR) grey entries that had no valid match.
I foolishly did that by using the contextual menu "Fetch and Match" on a particular greyed entry in the left column which happily threw everything out the window by starting the whole process again from scratch.

So yeah, contextual menus are supposed to be contextual. If they're not then just DON'T use any...
At the very least put some warning to abort operation when you're about to throw away user-made matches.

Btw, having the option to edit the imdb query when a match cannot be automatically resolved would have prevented this in the first place.
In any case, these global contextual menus need to go asap. Not that will use this app again so I don't really care.

Have a good one.

 You can use the Edit Match action to fix the selected match. See Q: How do I fix misidentified files? for details.

 FileBot will ask you to enter the movie name if necessary. Please sample file paths as text if you're having issues with any particular set of files.

 If you're new to using FileBot then you'll want to try it with a small number of files first to get a hang of it first, and then go with the all-at-once approach if you so choose. I'd still recommend sticking to manageable batches though. We'll keep this potential usability issue in mind and see if find multiple similar reports, and make changes as needed by users, at least the ones we are aware of, so thank you for reporting the issue.
 Please read the FAQ and How to Request Help.
